A dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a confident and flexible Cover Teacher for Art to join them on a full-time, short-term basis starting this September. This role is ideal for someone passionate about visual arts who can support students in maintaining creative momentum while their regular teacher is absent.

You’ll be delivering pre-planned Art lessons that cover a variety of disciplines — from drawing and painting to mixed media — while managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive, inspiring learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-prepared Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Support students in developing artistic techniques and creative confidence

  • Maintain a calm and structured classroom environment

  • Record attendance and report any safeguarding or behavioural concerns

  • Provide basic guidance on art materials and project expectations

  • Be open to covering other subjects if required by the school


You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience working in a secondary school or educational setting

  • Have a background or interest in Art and Design

  • Are confident managing classrooms and engaging different student groups

  • Communicate clearly, stay organised, and promote a positive learning experience

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply for one)

  • Are passionate about education and supporting student creativity
