Looking to gain hands-on classroom experience without the planning pressure? We’re on the lookout for confident, calm, and adaptable individuals to join our Cover Supervisor team, supporting secondary schools across Shrewsbury.

This flexible and rewarding role is perfect if you enjoy working with young people and want to build your skills in a school setting—whether you're exploring a future in teaching or just want a job that makes a difference every day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Stepping into the classroom when teachers are away—no planning or marking required

  • Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, using materials already prepared

  • Keeping students on track and managing behaviour in line with school policies

  • Offering support to pupils, including those with additional needs

  • Building positive relationships with staff and students along the way

What we’re looking for:

  • The right to work in the UK (British passport or valid BRP with Share Code)

  • Overseas Police Check if you’ve been abroad for over 6 months in the past 5 years

  • Previous experience working with young people—youth work, tutoring, or school-based roles are all a great fit

  • Strong communication, a sense of calm under pressure, and confidence managing a classroom

  • Any relevant qualifications or child development knowledge? That’s a bonus, not a must

Reliable travel around Shrewsbury is essential, but don’t worry—all lessons are pre-planned by the school and follow the National Curriculum. You just bring the calm, the confidence, and the can-do attitude.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
