We’re on the lookout for confident, adaptable Cover Supervisors to step into secondary schools across Shrewsbury and keep learning on track when teachers are away. It’s a brilliant way to build experience in education, especially if you enjoy variety, like working with young people, and want your work to matter, without taking marking home with you.
You’ll be walking into the classroom as the steady hand, managing the room, delivering the lesson plan, and keeping things running smoothly. No prep, no planning, no late nights. Just meaningful work and the satisfaction of knowing you made a difference that day.
Your role at a glance:

Supervising KS3 and KS4 classes when the teacher is away

Managing behaviour calmly and confidently

Keeping students engaged and focused, including those with additional needs

Building rapport with staff and pupils, relationships matter

Delivering set lesson plans (no marking required)
What we’re looking for:

The right to work in the UK (British Passport or BRP + Share Code)

An Overseas Police Check (if applicable)

Experience working with young people or within schools

Strong classroom presence and a cool head under pressure

You’ll need to be able to travel around the Shrewsbury area, either by car or reliable public transport. Don’t worry—teaching materials are all provided, and the lessons follow the National Curriculum.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
