We’re looking for an experienced Cover Manger with strong admin skills to take charge of daily cover operations and step into the classroom when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and arrange daily cover for staff absences across Secondary
  • Manage the cover diary, staff absence inbox, and liaise with agencies for supply needs
  • Brief and support supply staff on arrival, ensuring smooth handovers
  • Supervise classes in teacher absence—managing behaviour, supporting learning, and maintaining routine
  • Register students, deliver set work, and uphold the school’s Behaviour for Learning policy
  • Keep records updated and report on absence and cover usage
  • Support wider school admin needs including rota management, calendar uploads, and safeguarding procedures

What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience in school cover manager /supervision or cover admin
  • Confident classroom management across year groups
  • Excellent organisation, punctuality, and communication
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of school systems (e.g. SIMS)
  • A proactive, personable approach—you’ll be a daily point of contact for many

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
