Secondary School Caretaker

Contract: Full-time or Part-time, All Year Round
Salary: £95–£110 per day (depending on experience)

We’re working with a busy Birmingham secondary school looking for a hands-on Caretaker to join their site team. From unlocking gates in the morning to fixing door handles and helping with room setups, this is a role that keeps the school running literally.
About the School
The school is part of a high-performing multi-academy trust with a strong community feel. It’s a well-maintained site, and they take real pride in their environment. You’ll be working closely with the Site Manager to make sure everything’s safe, clean, and ready for learning.
The Role
As a Caretaker, you’ll take responsibility for:

Opening and closing the school premises

General site maintenance, including basic repairs and minor plumbing/carpentry tasks

Health and safety checks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, hazard spotting)

Keeping the grounds tidy and safe

Supporting contractors and managing site access

Responding to ad hoc tasks from staff or leadership
Who We’re Looking For

Experience in a school or facilities setting is ideal, but not essential

Handy with tools and confident with basic repairs

Trustworthy, proactive, and comfortable working independently

Knowledge of health and safety (COSHH, manual handling, safeguarding) is a big plus

DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
