BSL Teaching Assistant – Sunderland
Primary Setting | Ages 4–11 | Full-Time | September Start
We’re looking for a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, inclusive primary school in Sunderland this September.
This is a school that prides itself on creating a safe, supportive environment where every child feels valued and included. With pupils aged 4–11, they focus on building confidence, promoting respect, and encouraging every child to reach their potential.
Your role will include:

Supporting pupils with hearing impairments, using BSL for communication and learning support

Assisting in the classroom, helping pupils engage with lessons and activities

Providing one-to-one or small group support, depending on need

Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to create a positive, inclusive environment
We’re looking for:

BSL qualification (minimum Level 2)

Experience supporting children in a school or SEND setting
-
A nurturing, patient approach and a commitment to inclusion

Full-time availability from September

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
