Behaviour Specialist – Primary
Location: Waltham Forest, East London
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: £90–£115 per day

A well-established Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Waltham Forest is seeking a skilled and compassionate Behaviour Specialist to join their dedicated team. This setting supports pupils aged 5–11 who present with social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH) and who require a tailored approach to learning and behaviour management.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils re-engage with education by providing consistent behavioural support and helping create a safe, structured and nurturing environment. You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies to support each pupil’s individual development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour both in and out of class
  • Helping implement personalised behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies
  • Building strong, positive relationships to encourage trust and emotional regulation
  • Supporting reintegration into mainstream or longer-term specialist settings where appropriate
  • Collaborating with staff, families, and professionals to ensure a consistent approach

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or behavioural needs, ideally in a school or PRU setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
  • Ability to de-escalate and manage challenging situations effectively
  • Training such as Team Teach or similar is desirable (but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
