Behaviour Support Assistant – Gateshead

We’re partnering with a specialist provision in Gateshead that supports pupils who’ve struggled in mainstream settings. Their focus? Helping every learner develop resilience, self-regulation, and the confidence to re-engage with education.
They’re looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant who can bring calm, consistency, and a solutions-focused mindset. This is a role for someone who understands that behaviour is communication, and knows how to listen, support, and guide with patience.
What you’ll be doing:

Providing tailored behaviour support in class and around school

Building trusted relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour

Working alongside teachers, mentors, and pastoral staff to implement positive behaviour strategies

Helping pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn
Who we’re looking for:

Experience working with young people with social, emotional, or behavioural needs (in schools, youth work, or care)

Strong communication and resilience, someone who stays calm under pressure

A positive, empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people

Team players who believe in restorative approaches, not quick fixes

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
