1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support

Walthamstow, East London
Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Long-term position | Post-16 college setting


The Role
We’re working with a fantastic college in Walthamstow looking for a dedicated SEN TA to provide 1:1 support for a post-16 student. The learner presents with behavioural challenges and has complex SEN needs, so this role calls for someone steady, skilled, and genuinely caring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the college day

  • Help manage behaviour calmly and confidently

  • Support access to learning and promote independence

  • Work closely with SENCO, tutors, and pastoral staff

  • Follow EHCP and behaviour plans

  • Encourage engagement in academic and social activities


Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced in SEN and behaviour support
  • Confident with de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation
  • Familiar with ADHD, autism, and SEMH needs
  • Reliable, empathetic, and firm but fair
  • Experience in a college or post-16 setting is a bonus
  • Creative/vocational subject background also a plus!
