Not every pupil fits the mould. That’s why alternative provision matters—and why we need you.
We’re looking for a resilient, understanding, and emotionally intelligent Teaching Assistant to support pupils in alternative provision settings across Lambeth. These pupils may have been excluded, are at risk of exclusion, or need a different kind of support to access learning.
This isn’t your standard classroom role. It’s one where relationships are everything, consistency matters, and small wins feel massive.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with learning and behaviour
-
Building trust, modelling calm responses, and encouraging re-engagement
-
Assisting with behaviour plans and tailored learning approaches
-
Working closely with SENCOs, AP staff, and outreach teams
We’d love to hear from you if you:
-
Have experience working with vulnerable young people or those with SEMH needs
-
Stay calm under pressure and have strong emotional boundaries
-
Can build rapport with pupils who don’t always trust easily
-
Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service – or are happy to apply with our help
What you’ll get:
-
✅ Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella deductions
-
✅ FREE Thrive and de-escalation training
-
✅ Long-term work in local settings that value your presence
-
✅ Personal support from a consultant who gets AP work
Think you could be the person a pupil needs to trust school again?
