Are you a caring, patient, and reliable teaching assistant looking to make a real impact in a child's early development? A welcoming primary school in Shrewsbury is seeking an EYFS 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a young learner with specific needs in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised guidance and encouragement to help a child flourish both academically and emotionally.

Your Role and Key Contributions

  • Deliver one-to-one support for a specific Early Years pupil throughout the school day

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and adapting lessons to suit the pupil's needs

  • Encourage the child’s independence, confidence, and engagement in learning

  • Create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing learning space tailored to the pupil’s development

  • Use a flexible approach to support the pupil’s preferred learning style

  • Monitor progress and contribute to regular feedback shared with teachers and parents

  • Build positive relationships with the pupil, staff, and families to ensure open communication

  • Uphold school policies, values, and safeguarding procedures consistently

What We’re Looking For

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)

  • Previous experience supporting children on a one-to-one basis in an EYFS or primary setting

  • A strong understanding of the developmental needs of Early Years pupils

  • Excellent communication and listening skills to work effectively with children and adults

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to behaviour and emotional needs

  • Flexibility to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs

  • Familiarity with classroom resources and techniques used to aid individual learning

  • Qualifications in child development or additional needs are welcomed but not essential
