We’re searching for a compassionate and confident SEND Teaching Assistant to support a boy transitioning into Year 1 this September. This pupil is non-verbal, has a diagnosis of autism and sensory processing challenges, and can become physically dysregulated. You’ll be his anchor; helping him navigate the school day, build trust, and feel safe.

What the role involves:

  • Providing 1:1 support tailored to sensory and emotional needs

  • Using visual supports, routines, and calm-down strategies

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO

  • Supporting with personal care when needed

  • Helping the pupil access learning at their own pace

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with autism, SEMH, or non-verbal children

  • Stays calm under pressure and uses a trauma-informed approach

  • Understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and structure

  • Can be patient, playful, and proactive

  • Wants to help a child feel seen, safe, and supported every day
