Location: Denton Burn, Newcastle
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £89.38–£95 per day (PAYE – no umbrella)

Got a sports psychology degree and a knack for building positive relationships?

We are looking for a proactive graduate to support a pupil with high SEND needs on a 1:1 basis. Starting this September, you’ll be working closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to help one young person feel calm, confident, and ready to learn.

This role is ideal for someone with a steady presence, a calm approach, and a background in behaviour, psychology, or youth engagement, particularly if you’ve supported young people in sports or structured group settings.

This is a thoughtful and supportive school in Denton Burn with a brilliant SEND department. You’ll be part of a nurturing team that recognises the impact of consistent, compassionate support, especially for pupils with higher needs.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting a pupil 1:1 throughout the school day

  • Promoting positive behaviour, routine, and regulation

  • Helping the pupil access learning and develop trust

  • Using movement, coaching techniques or therapeutic approaches to build rapport

  • Working alongside class teachers, parents, and pastoral staff

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in Sports Psychology (or similar)

  • Some experience working with children or young people: schools, coaching, mentoring, etc.

  • A resilient, grounded attitude with natural empathy

  • Someone ready to commit full-time and make a lasting difference

Bonus: If you're not yet Thrive trained, we’ll provide access to our free Thrive training. It's a brilliant tool for supporting emotional development—and schools love it.
