1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Outreach Role | SEND / SEMH
Location: Basildon | Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm | Annual Leave: 28 days (including bank holidays)
Mileage reimbursed at 35p per mile

Protocol Education is seeking a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant for an outreach-based position in Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity to support young adults with complex SEND/SEMH needs as they access Specialist Further Education through personalised, flexible learning programmes.
About the Role:
You will support learners in a range of community-based settings, including their homes, work placements, and social or leisure environments. These bespoke programmes are designed to promote independence, develop key life skills, and support individual vocational goals.
Activities may include:
Fishing, sports, IT, farming, cooking, welding, forestry, and more — all tailored to the student's interests and needs.
What You'll Be Doing:

Supporting young adults on a 1:1 basis with their educational and personal development

Delivering customised learning plans in practical, real-world settings

Promoting student voice, choice, and engagement in daily activities

Building positive, trusting relationships that empower learners
Requirements:

Experience working with individuals with SEND and/or SEMH needs

A full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential for outreach work)

A compassionate, confident, and proactive approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
