Protocol Education are currently looking to recruit a SEN Specialist who has experience working with PMLD in a SEN School based in Oldbury approx 10 minutes from Oldbury Centre.

The school is a specialist school which is divided into three phases, lower, middle and upper. The school aims to help and support young adults to help them through challenges they have had in their education, by providing consistency and a nurturing attitude they will be able to guide them.

The pupils are from a vulnerable background so we need to have the right person who is going to be extremely useful and use their initiative as thhe days can be juggling a lot so we need people who can be very diverse and not always need direction.

The school specialises in providing bespoke learning opportunities for pupils who need additional support. They will put in place carefully tailored plans to meet the individual; needs of each of the pupils. Their will be manual handling and hoists to be used within the classes, staff will be expected to be able to assist with this and toilet duties with the more vulnerable pupils.  The staff have a strong relationship with their pupils as its essential for the pupils to know they can trust staff. The class sizes will be from 7 - 10 pupils per class with support of a Teacher and other Teaching Assistants within the class.

They are currently in need of a strong support staff who can work with PMLD which would be full time 08:30 - 15:30. For this role the candidate MUST have SEN experience working with challenging behaviour and pupils who have attachment issues, they also must be understanding that each day can be very different so you will need to be able to adapt to the schools needs and work hard to ensure the day can go as smooth as possible. The school are extremely supportive and want the individual to feel like a member of the team, they have recently appointed two of our staff to join them on a permanent basis so it is a great opportunity to work within an established school.

Role: Special Needs Support, 1:1 and bespoke learning support.

Location: Oldbury (Easy commute from Oldbury centre and Dudley)

Hours: Monday - Friday 830am - 330pm

Start date: ASAP

Pay: £16,800 - £17,800 (Depending on experience)

Qualifications: Level 3 Teaching and Learning, Special Needs (This is essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
