In this Unqualified Teacher role, you will support the delivery of curriculum content, lead lessons when required, and contribute to maintaining positive learning environments under the direction of experienced teaching staff. Opportunities may be available within specific subject areas or as part of general cover, depending on school needs.

Secondary schools within Sunderland are recruiting an Unqualified Teacher to work with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. This Unqualified Teacher position is well suited to individuals with strong academic or subject knowledge who are seeking practical classroom experience before entering formal teacher training.

Role Overview:

  • Delivering planned learning activities to secondary-aged pupils

  • Supporting pupil understanding and engagement during lessons

  • Applying school behaviour and safeguarding policies consistently

  • Working alongside teaching staff and department teams

Candidate Criteria:

  • Secure knowledge in a subject relevant to the secondary curriculum

  • Experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential

  • A clear interest in developing a career within education or teacher training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
