Protocol Education are working with Secondary Schools in the above areas to appoint enthusiastic and enterprising Unqualified Teachers and Cover Supervisors to join their staffing and cover teams.

About the Role

The schools are looking for individuals with a degree or a strong background in core subjects, or those with experience working with children and young people, to lead and cover a variety of lessons across the school timetable.

This role is ideal for anyone looking to gain valuable classroom experience before embarking on a teaching career, or for graduates seeking a bold new career change.

To help you succeed in this role, we provide FREE training on how to be a successful and effective Cover Supervisor.
This training has been created by Protocol Consultants and School Cover Managers to give you the best possible start — covering behaviour management, classroom presence, and safeguarding to help you make a positive impact from day one.

Alongside this, we also offer FREE training on the Thrive Approach.
Whether you’re looking to build stronger relationships with pupils or better understand behaviour (especially in SEMH and SEND settings), this course is your shortcut to classroom calm and confidence.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pre-set work in accordance with the school’s guidelines.

  • Ensure pupils complete work to the best of their ability.

  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.

  • De-escalate situations calmly and follow safeguarding procedures.

  • Collect and return completed work at the end of each lesson.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.

  • Someone who genuinely cares about the education of children and enjoys working with young people.

  • A person who inspires confidence and helps students develop skills for life.

  • Someone with a positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and reading comprehension).

  • Degree educated.

  • Proven track record of positively impacting children’s lives (in any capacity).

  • Right to work in the UK.

 

Additional Information

  • Pay: £100–£130 per day (£130+ if you hold QTS)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Contract Type: Full-time and Part-time available

  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (part-time positions available)

  • Location: Placements in convenient locations for you, whether you can travel 40 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bus. Roles in Bristol and surrounding areas.

 

Notes:
This role is ideal for lecturers, coaches, or anyone with subject specialisms. It also suits those who have taught outside the UK but wish to gain UK classroom experience (QTS not required).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
