If you’re looking for a flexible, rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference, this Unqualified Cover Supervisor opportunity could be the perfect step into education.

In this role, you will step in for absent teachers across a range of subjects, supervising classes and guiding pupils through pre-planned tasks. Lessons are already prepared, so your focus is on managing the classroom, maintaining a calm learning environment and supporting students to stay engaged. You’ll be a calm, authoritative, kind and encouraging presence, someone pupils can rely on for consistency, fairness and reassurance.

This is an ideal role for confident communicators who enjoy working with young people and want to build meaningful classroom experience without the pressure of planning or marking.

The School

We are working with a highly respected, oversubscribed 11–18 secondary school in the BS1 area, with a large sixth form, located in the heart of Bristol. The school serves families from across the city and beyond and has a truly diverse student community, something that is actively celebrated and valued.

The school’s culture is rooted in strong relationships, clear boundaries and high expectations. Students are encouraged to feel safe, valued and empowered in their learning, and staff are supported to uphold consistency, kindness and fairness across the school day. Behaviour systems are clear, well-embedded and designed to maximise learning time, ensuring cover staff feel confident and supported when stepping into lessons.

This is a setting where diversity is a strength, ambition is nurtured and every adult in the building plays a role in helping young people reach their full potential.

  • Deliver pre-set work and keep pupils focused on learning

  • Create a calm, respectful and purposeful classroom environment
