Job Title: Unqualified Food Technology Teacher

Location: Walsall
Contract: Full-time or long-term supply
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £95–£130 per day (PAYE)

Love being in the kitchen and fancy turning that passion into a classroom career? This could be your moment.

We’re working with a welcoming secondary school that’s looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on individual to join their Food Technology department. No teaching qualification yet? No stress. If you’re confident leading a group, great with people, and happy to roll up your sleeves, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting students as they learn practical cooking skills

  • Helping with lesson preparation, from ingredients to equipment

  • Encouraging pupils to learn, experiment and enjoy the subject

  • Keeping lessons running safely and smoothly

  • Working closely with the Food Tech teacher and wider DT team

What the school is looking for

  • Someone who loves Food Tech and isn’t afraid of a busy classroom

  • A calm, friendly presence who can build quick rapport with students

  • Good organisation, good humour, and good communication

  • Experience working with young people is helpful but not essential

  • A willingness to learn on the job

Why join through Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies

  • Free access to our online CPD Academy

  • Your own consultant who genuinely listens and supports you

  • Opportunities to grow your skills, whether you want to teach, support, or specialise

Bonus question… are you Thrive trained?

If not, we can help you get there with free Thrive training. Schools love it, and it gives you a real edge in the classroom.

If you’re ready to step into a Food Tech room and help students cook up confidence, creativity, and the odd slightly chaotic flapjack, we’d love to hear from you.
