Thinking about starting a career in education but not sure where to begin? This could be your perfect first step.

We’re working with a wonderful specialist school in Durham that supports children with a range of additional needs. They’re looking for someone kind, patient and eager to learn, rather than someone with years of experience. If you bring the right attitude, they’ll show you the ropes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs in a calm, structured setting

  • Helping with communication, emotional regulation and sensory activities

  • Working closely with teachers and experienced support staff who’ll guide you day to day

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who rely on consistency and warmth

  • Making school feel safe, predictable and positive for every child you work with

No experience? No problem. You just need…

  • A genuine interest in working with children with additional needs

  • A positive, steady approach and a willingness to get stuck in

  • Good communication skills and a kind, patient nature

  • Reliability and a sense of humour, especially when the day gets messy

  • Openness to training, coaching and new strategies

What you’ll get from Protocol Education

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella deductions

  • FREE access to our online CPD academy, perfect for trainees

  • A consultant who’ll guide you through each step and check in regularly

  • Opportunities to grow your confidence and progress in specialist education

  • Long-term roles that give you proper structure and a chance to build skills

This is a brilliant chance to start a meaningful career in SEND, even if you’ve never worked in a school before. If you’re ready to learn, we’re ready to support you.
