Trainee Teaching Assistant
Location: Gateshead, Tyne & Wear
Contract: Term-time only, Fixed-term / permanent progression route
Hours: Part time (morning/afternoon) or full time
About the role
An excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin their career supporting children with complex needs. As a Trainee Teaching Assistant you’ll receive on-the-job training and support from experienced staff in a specialist primary setting. You will learn how to support pupils with severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions and associated communication and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities

Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning tasks

Help with class routines and maintaining a positive learning environment

Support pupils with communication, interaction, behaviour, and personal care

Implement strategies as directed by senior staff / therapists

Observe, report and feedback pupil progress and concerns
Person Specification

A caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude with a strong desire to learn

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to adapt and respond to changing needs and behaviour

Commitment to SEND best practice and willingness to undertake training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
