We are recruiting trainee teaching assistants from backgrounds such as Health and Social Care, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Studies who are keen to apply their skills within a special educational needs school in Sunderland

As a teaching assistant you will be required to think creatively and apply your skills develop students’ communication and language skills, independence and cognitive processes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work within a variety of different subjects such as cooking, art & music, English and maths . In return you will be able to access Accredited Training, continuous professional whilst gaining paid experience.

Many students have challenging home lives and have complex communication needs, learning difficulties or are autistic and some occasionally present with challenging behaviours.

For you to be successful in the role you will need:

 • Understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health

• Passionate about supporting Children and Young People to overcome challenges and barriers

This particular role may be suitable for someone with experience working within the care sector who is interested in utilising their skills within an educational setting. This is a full time role (working Monday-Friday during term time only). The opportunity to gain an accredited teaching and learning qualification will also be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
