A special school in Durham is looking for a Teaching Assistant who can bring patience, positivity, and steady support to pupils with a range of additional needs. The school offers a warm, structured environment and is hoping to welcome someone who enjoys helping young people feel confident, understood, and ready to learn.

What you’ll be doing as a Teaching Assistant in a SEN school

  • Supporting pupils during lessons, group work, and individual learning tasks.

  • Encouraging pupils to follow routines and engage with activities in ways that suit their needs.

  • Helping to adapt tasks and learning materials in partnership with teaching staff.

  • Providing reassurance, structure, and encouragement throughout the school day.

What the school is looking for

  • The ability to stay calm, flexible, and supportive during challenging moments.

  • Experience in SEND is welcome but not essential, as full guidance and training will be provided.
