Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant (Secondary Schools in Bristol)

Protocol Education are looking for confident, caring, and proactive candidates for Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Bristol (in locations near you), with full time and part time roles available. You’ll be supporting learners with additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive in the classroom. Work in schools near you, with sociable working hours, and even gain opportunities for long-term work. Most of our TAs, whether they came to us with prior experience or not, secure their ideal long-term role within weeks of joining us.

This role is open to people from all levels of experience. Maybe you’ve worked in schools before, or perhaps you bring experience from childcare, youth work, or your university studies. THE ROLE

  • Working 1:1 or with small groups to support students with SEND needs (including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH)

  • Helping students to integrate into lessons, breaking down tasks to make them accessible

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families

  • Communicating effectively with the classroom teacher, SENDCO, and wider school team

  • Encouraging independence, celebrating progress, and supporting behaviour positively

  • Keeping accurate records of progress and concerns, and liaising with staff and outside agencies where appropriate

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Confident, patient, and resilient, with a caring approach

  • Able to work under the direction of teachers and SENDCOs, but also comfortable using your initiative

  • Experienced in supporting young people with additional needs (desirable, but not essential if you have transferable skills)

  • A team player who can also take responsibility for preparing learning resources and supporting students across the school day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
