A North Tyneside  secondary school is recruiting for a graduate teaching assistant to begin work with immediate effect (pending safeguarding checks are completed).

The school wishes to employ a graduate with an interest in teaching or educational psychology. No previous experience is required as the school will provide on the job training and CPD to assist in the role. Accredited qualifications will also be available via Protocol Education. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to take their first steps working within the education sector as no previous experience is required.

This is a full time role (term time only), to begin immediately. If successful you will be likely required until the end of the academic year (July 2023). There is a strong chance that a permanent contract will be offered after this point.

This OFSTED graded Good school is easily commutable from the Tyne and Wear Metro system, Newcastle city centre and the Tyne Tunnel. 

As part of your role, you will provide in class support to children with special educational needs (aged between 11-16) . You should be confident in your ability build a rapport with children. You will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of children.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have a calm and consistent approach and understand how to respond to challenging behaviours
  • Hold a university degree 
  • Be able to work Monday-Friday (term time)
  • Have experience or a keen interest in working with children.
  • Be educated to degree level (all subjects will be considered)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
