SEMH Teaching Assistant

Long-Term | Tower Hamlets | Immediate or January Start**

We’re supporting a fantastic specialist secondary setting that works with pupils who experience social, emotional, and mental health needs. They’re looking for a Teaching Assistant who can build trust, support behaviour positively, and help pupils feel safe enough to learn.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups

  • Helping young people re-engage with learning using structure, empathy, and calm routines

  • Working closely with teachers, behaviour mentors, and pastoral staff

  • Using de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed approaches

  • Celebrating small wins and helping pupils build confidence day by day

What the school is looking for

  • Experience in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provisions is ideal

  • Someone calm, patient, and emotionally available

  • A great communicator who can build strong, respectful relationships

  • Someone who doesn’t take behaviour personally and understands the ‘why’ behind it

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
