Job Duties:
- Supporting the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and educational activities
- Assisting with planning and preparing teaching materials
- Providing one-on-one support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Assisting students with their learning, including reading, writing, and numeracy
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and maintaining classroom discipline
- Supervising students during break times and off-site activities
- Supporting students with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia
- Assisting with the use of assistive technologies and adaptive equipment
- Collaborating with other teaching staff and professionals to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Monitoring and recording student progress and reporting to the classroom teacher
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience
Education:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred)
Experience:
- Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Experience providing support to students with special educational needs and disabilities
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of the national curriculum and educational systems
- Familiarity with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents/guardians
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher-level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification
- Additional qualifications in specific areas, such as dyslexia support or British Sign Language (BSL)
Working Conditions:
The Teaching Assistant will primarily work within a school setting, supporting the classroom teacher and students. The role may involve working with students with diverse learning needs and behaviours. The Teaching Assistant may be required to attend training sessions and participate in professional development activities. The work schedule will follow the school calendar and regular school hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
