SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Islington
Full-time, long-term
Competitive daily pay, paid weekly via PAYE
Looking for a role where your calm, consistency, and patience really count?
We’re working with a supportive SEND secondary school in Islington that’s looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work with young people who need understanding, structure, and someone they can trust. This is a school that knows secondary SEND can be challenging, and makes sure staff are backed every step of the way.
You’ll be supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them manage their day, engage with learning, and build confidence at a pace that works for them. Some days will test you, others will bring real breakthrough moments, but every day you’ll be making a difference that sticks.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Supporting students with SEND, including autism, SEMH, and additional learning needs
-
Helping pupils regulate emotions and stay engaged in lessons
-
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
-
Providing calm, consistent 1:1 or small group support
This role could be a great fit if you:
-
Have experience working with children or young people, ideally in a SEND or secondary setting
-
Stay calm under pressure and don’t take challenging behaviour personally
-
Understand that behaviour is communication
-
Want to be part of a team that genuinely values support staff
What you’ll get with Protocol Education:
-
Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies
-
FREE access to our online CPD Academy
-
A dedicated consultant who knows SEND and has your back
-
