We’re working with a forward-thinking secondary school in Middlesbrough that is looking to appoint a creative and motivated Teacher of Design & Technology, with a specialism in Product Design and Resistant Materials.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys being hands-on and wants to help develop and grow a modern DT provision. You’ll play an important role in shaping the curriculum, supporting practical learning, and inspiring students through design, making, and problem-solving.

The role:

  • Teach Design & Technology across KS3–KS5, with a focus on Product Design and Resistant Materials

  • Deliver engaging, practical lessons using workshop-based learning

  • Support the development of DT resources and schemes of work

  • Encourage creativity, technical skills, and independent thinking

  • Maintain a safe, well-organised learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with the wider creative and technology team

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS (or equivalent UK teaching qualification)

  • Has strong subject knowledge in Product Design / Resistant Materials

  • Can also support Art at KS3/KS4 (desirable)

  • Is confident using practical equipment and promoting hands-on learning

  • Is enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to student progress

  • Has experience or interest in textiles or wider DT at KS4 (advantageous)
