Protocol Education are partnered with a supportive, welcoming BS3 Secondary School to help them find talented Unqualified Teachers / Cover Supervisors to work with them either full or part-time and become part of the school community.

This Unqualified Cover Supervisor role is a brilliant opportunity to step into education, gain hands-on experience and become part of a supportive secondary school community in the BS3 area of Bristol.

In this role, you’ll step in for absent teachers across a range of subjects, managing the classroom and guiding pupils through pre-planned tasks. Lessons are already set, so your focus is on creating a calm, purposeful environment where learning can happen. You’ll be a warm, encouraging and reliable presence, someone pupils trust, while also being clear, authoritative and fair.

No teaching qualifications or school experience are needed. If you’re reliable, punctual and confident working with young people, we’ll provide all the training you need for free.

The School

This is a well-regarded BS3 secondary school with a strong sense of community and belonging. It’s a place where students are known, supported and encouraged to do their best, and where staff work together to create a positive, respectful culture.

The school values:

  • Respect for ourselves and each other

  • Determination and doing your best

  • Being prepared and ready to learn

  • Clear expectations and consistency

Learning is taken seriously here. The curriculum is broad, balanced and designed by subject specialists who care deeply about their subjects and how young people learn best. Creativity sits alongside academic rigour, and pupils are encouraged to develop knowledge, confidence and curiosity.

Behaviour expectations are clear and well embedded, helping maximise learning time and ensuring cover staff feel supported from the moment they walk into the classroom.

The school is keen to find talented, reliable and punctual Unqualified Teachers who want to become part of the wider school community, not just drop in and out.

The Role

As an Unqualified Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise classes during teacher absence across different subjects

  • Deliver pre-set work and keep pupils focused on learning

  • Maintain calm, clear routines and classroom expectations

  • Build positive relationships with students and staff
