This welcoming, community-focused secondary school is looking for a full-time Sports Coach to become a valued part of its PE and wider school team.

Sport plays a big role in school life here. It’s about confidence, teamwork, resilience and giving every young person the chance to shine, whether that’s on the pitch, in the sports hall, or simply by finding something they enjoy and feel good at.

This role goes beyond running coaching sessions. You’ll often step in to cover PE lessons when qualified teachers are off site, delivering a wide range of practical activities and keeping students active, engaged, and motivated throughout the day. You’ll be trusted, supported, and very much part of the staff team, not just passing through.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and supporting practical PE lessons across a range of sports

  • Covering timetabled PE lessons in place of qualified teachers when needed

  • Running structured coaching sessions with clear routines and high expectations

  • Building positive relationships with students who respond best to strong role models

  • Helping create an inclusive, energetic environment where effort matters as much as ability

Who this role is perfect for

You don’t need formal teaching qualifications to apply. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong sports background who’s curious about a future in education.

You might be:

  • A sports coach who’s worked with young people in clubs, camps, or community settings

  • A graduate in sport or a related subject looking for hands-on school experience

  • Someone considering teacher training and wanting to build confidence in a school environment

  • A confident, organised presence who enjoys leading groups and keeping things moving

If you’ve run sports sessions, managed groups of young people, and know how to keep energy positive and purposeful, you’ll fit right in.

What the school offers

  • A supportive, inclusive culture where staff genuinely look out for one another

  • Clear behaviour systems and students who respond well to consistency

  • Strong leadership with a real focus on personal development and wellbeing

  • The chance to gain invaluable classroom and school experience every single day

  • A role that can open doors into teacher training or long-term work in education

This is the kind of school where people stay, grow, and feel proud of the part they play.

If you love sport, enjoy working with young people, and want a meaningful way into education, this role is well worth a look.
