Specialist Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education is working alongside a dynamic and forward thinking special educational needs school in Salisbiury to appoint inspiring, dedicated individuals to work in the role of Specialist Teaching Assistant.

Start Date: September 2024

Employment Type: Both full and part time available 

Pay: £12.90 - £14 (dependent on experience)

The School

All children have special educational needs, with significant and complex barriers to learning, which include autism, sensory impairments, complex medical needs and physical disabilities. The broad and balanced curriculum is based on a pupil centred approach enabling every child to be included and encouraged, enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. The curriculum is based on National Curriculum Programmes of study for Early years, KS1-KS4. It is carefully designed to meet the needs of all children and reflects the schools Learning for Life ethos.

The Role:

  • Greeting pupils from their buses and bringing them into school
  • Settling the class into their tutor group
  • Supporting teachers in ensuring all pupils can access their curriculum
  • Movement and handling support of pupils as needed
  • Personal and medical care for pupils as needed - training provided
  • Supervising pupils at break and lunchtimes
  • Working closely with teachers to ensure all pupils are supported in school
  • Escort pupils onto their buses to go home

Previous experience working with SEN (specifically Autism) is preferred, however not essential. The school are more looking for people who show a genuine passion for supporting children and young people. Your personality and engaging personality will be essential to the role.
