Specialist Tutor for SEN support.
About the Role:
Do you have a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Specialist Tutor to provide personalised educational support to SEN students within the Middlesbrough area. Your expertise will play a crucial role in helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Tailored Tuition: Deliver individualised one-to-one or small group tutoring sessions that address the unique learning needs of SEN students, including those with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other specific learning difficulties.
- Develop and Implement Learning Plans: Following EHCP’s to effectively support the students’ individual specific needs.
- Support Academic and Personal Development: Help students develop essential academic skills, confidence, and self-esteem, while also supporting their social and emotional well-being.
- Monitor and Report Progress: Regularly assess and record student progress, providing feedback to students, parents/guardians, and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
- Promote an Inclusive Learning Environment: Create a supportive and adaptive learning environment that fosters engagement, resilience, and positive behaviour.
- Engage with Parents/Guardians: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns or adjustments needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in Special Education, Education or a related field.
- Proven experience in teaching or tutoring students with SEN.
- Strong understanding of SEN educational strategies, interventions, and legal frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and their families.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification in SEN.
- Experience working in SEN schools, units, or specialist educational settings.
- Familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
