SEN Teaching Assistant

We’re working with a supportive secondary school in Wakefield who are looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with additional needs across KS3 and KS4. This is a long-term role where relationships matter just as much as routines.
You’ll be supporting students who may have autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, or communication difficulties, helping them navigate the school day and access learning in a way that works for them.
What you’ll be doing:

Supporting students with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

Helping young people stay engaged, regulated, and ready to learn

Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience

Being a calm, reliable presence during challenging moments
This role is for you if you:

Have experience supporting young people with SEN or SEMH

Are calm under pressure and don’t take behaviour personally

Understand that behaviour is communication
-
Build trust through consistency and clear boundaries

Bring patience, empathy, and quiet confidence to your work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
