I am currently working with a two-form entry mainstream Primary school in BD4 who are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who specialises in SEN to support a pupil in their Reception class. 

 

The child is New-to-English from an Eastern European background and is struggling to adapt to his current setting. Therefore any understanding of Polish, Czech, Slovakian or other European languages would be a huge bonus. 

 

The school are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and energetic person with proven skills who can provide support for this pupil on a 1:1 basis. The hours are 8.30-15:30 Monday to Friday term time only.  This is a long-term contract with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

 

The successful applicant will:

  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have a calm and consistent approach
  • Have experience of working with SEN pupils
  • Ideally have knowledge/understanding of Eastern European language
  • Have a supporting and encouraging manner with young children and an ability to inspire trust and to motivate the child in their care to integrate and learn through play
  • Have the ability to be flexible and to work as part of a team
  • Be required to work closely with Class Teachers and staff, Parents, Special Needs Leader and Outside Agencies
  • Be able to use their initiative in meeting the needs of the child and in adapting and/or developing activities and games that support the development of the child’s independent communication and learning skills.
