At Protocol Education we are currently looking for a resilient and enthusiastic SENDCO to work full time in Wakefield.

I am currently working with a well-established school in the Wakefield area to recruit a SENDCO on a Temp to Perm basis with an immediate start.

About the role:

Our SENCO duties can include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school's SEND policy
  • Coordinating provision for children with SEND
  • Liaising with and advising fellow teachers
  • Managing Teaching Assistants
  • Overseeing the records of all children with SEND
  • Liaising with parents of children with SEND
  • Contributing to the training of staff.
  • Liaising with external agencies including the LA’s support and Educational Psychology services, health and social services, and voluntary bodies.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Some experience of working with children or in a school (Not essential).
  • Experience writing and reading EHCP’s (Essential)
  • Experience as a SENDCO (desirable).
  • A real passion for education and improving the attainment of pupils.
  • Have a passion for working with children with adverse backgrounds.
  • Be empathetic, patient, and caring.
  • Creativity for stimulating and engaging pupils.
  • Some knowledge of basic core subjects.
  • Experience in a leadership role (desirable)
