SEND Teaching Assistant – Sunderland

We’re supporting a specialist school in Sunderland that’s looking for a calm, caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. The pupils have a wide mix of additional needs, and they’re after someone who brings patience, curiosity, and that magic ability to make children feel safe and seen.
You’ll be doing things like:
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory needs, and daily routines
• Using visuals, simple language, and structured approaches that help pupils thrive
• Working closely with teachers and therapists
• Celebrating progress, no matter how tiny it looks on paper
You’ll be great at this if:
• You’ve worked with SEND before or supported children with additional needs
• You stay calm when the classroom gets busy
• You can build trust slowly and gently
• You genuinely enjoy helping children grow in confidence

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
