We’re seeking a committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist school in Walsall. This is a full-time, long-term role starting in September, with genuine opportunity for development and impact.

You’ll work closely with pupils who require additional support due to autism, social, emotional or mental health needs (SEMH), and other complex learning profiles. Your ability to remain calm, consistent and supportive will be key in helping them access learning and build confidence in the classroom.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support throughout the school day
  • Implement strategies to promote focus, regulation and participation
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Support teachers with behaviour management and inclusive learning approaches
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and well-structured learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (school, care or youth work settings welcome)
  • Confident communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic and professional in challenging situations
  • A proactive, reliable and resilient approach to working in education
