About the Role

We’re looking for a calm and confident SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism in a specialist Sunderland provision. You’ll be joining a warm, welcoming team that values patience, curiosity, and genuine connection.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with communication and sensory needs
  • Helping create safe routines that help pupils feel settled and ready to learn
  • Working closely with SENCOs and therapists to follow tailored plans
  • Encouraging independence through clear, simple steps

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • A calm, reassuring approach when things get busy
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in helping pupils grow in confidence

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
