Are you the calm, steady presence every classroom needs? Gateshead schools are looking for compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants who know how to make pupils feel safe, seen, and supported.

We’re working with several lovely settings across the area, from specialist provisions to mainstream schools with dedicated SEND units. If you’re someone who builds trust easily and brings patience into every interaction, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and social, emotional and mental health needs

  • Helping children access learning in a way that feels structured and reassuring

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to keep things consistent

  • Creating calm routines and celebrating the small wins that matter

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

  • A positive, warm approach, especially during those wobbly moments

  • Someone who can handle busy days with a level head

  • A team player who enjoys being part of a supportive school community

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
