Location: Gateshead (flexible travel between sites desirable)
Hours: Flexible daily or part-week cover during term time

About the setting
This specialist provision caters for children aged 2-11 with complex needs including ASC, SLD and PMLD. The environment is calm, inclusive and well-resourced, supporting each child’s development and independence.
Role overview
You will provide daily cover support across various classes, stepping into existing routines to assist pupils with additional needs. Your flexibility and ability to adapt will be key to supporting an inclusive and consistent learning environment.
Key responsibilities

Step into classrooms or small groups when required, supporting pupils with complex needs.

Assist with sensory breaks, visual aids, communication systems and structured routines.

Support pupils’ emotional and behavioural regulation using trauma-informed approaches.

Liaise with staff for effective handovers and consistent support.

Ensure high standards of safeguarding and pupil dignity at all times.
Person specification
-
Some experience or keen interest in specialist SEND settings.

Calm, flexible and adaptable with excellent teamwork skills.

Willingness to travel between locations if requested.

Enhanced DBS (child & adult) or willingness to obtain.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
