The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist academy that provides personalised learning pathways for pupils with a wide range of additional needs. This role involves supporting children across EYFS, primary, and secondary phases, ensuring they have access to a safe, structured, and engaging education.
As a SEND TA, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, and complex needs.

Use strategies such as de-escalation, sensory-aware approaches, and positive reinforcement to manage behaviours and promote engagement.

Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored interventions and adapt resources to meet individual needs.

Encourage independence, social skills, and emotional wellbeing in every pupil.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will bring:

Experience of working with children or young people with SEND (school-based or in care/youth settings).

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.

Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive relationships quickly.

Confidence in behaviour management and an understanding of behaviour as communication.
A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and Team Teach training would be advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
