A fantastic specialist school in Gateshead is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with autism, SEMH needs, communication difficulties, or learning disabilities

  • Helping to deliver personalised routines, sensory activities, and structured learning

  • Building safe, trusting relationships that help pupils feel grounded and confident

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and senior leaders who value your input

  • Keeping the day positive, consistent, and pupil-focused

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in SEND settings, specialist units, or supporting children with additional needs

  • A steady, patient approach, especially during challenging moments

  • Someone who can spot when a child needs space, reassurance, or a reset

  • Great communication skills and a warm, empathetic manner
