A specialist school in Durham is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who can offer calm support, thoughtful guidance and genuine warmth to children with additional needs. If you’re patient, positive and able to bring steady reassurance to the school day, this could be the perfect role for you.

You don’t need lots of experience to be considered. A caring approach, a willingness to learn and a consistent attitude are the qualities that matter most.

Your role in the classroom

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs, creating a sense of safety and structure

  • Helping children understand tasks through simple explanations, visuals and repetition

  • Assisting with routines so pupils feel settled, organised and ready to learn

  • Offering calm encouragement during challenging moments or busy parts of the day

  • Working with teachers and specialists to shape support around each child’s needs

  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
