SEND Teaching Assistant – Barnsley

Salary: £17,500 – £19,500 pro rata
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Setting: Primary School

Make a real difference.

We’re looking for a caring, confident SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Barnsley (S70). This is a school with heart — a place where every child is valued, and teamwork is at the centre of everything they do.

You’ll be supporting children with Autism, helping them feel secure, supported, and ready to learn. You’ll build strong relationships, celebrate every achievement, and make each day a little brighter for the pupils you work with. If you’ve already got experience supporting young people with Autism, you’ll know just how rewarding those moments can be.

Your day-to-day might include:

  • Working 1:1 or in small groups to support pupils with ASD.
  • Helping teachers adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and social interaction.
  • Celebrating progress — however small — every single day.

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You have experience working with children or young people with Autism (in schools, youth work, or care settings).
  • You’re calm under pressure, adaptable, and genuinely enjoy helping children thrive.
  • You can commit to a full-time role in a supportive, friendly team.
