SEND Teaching Assistant

Full-Time (Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 15:30pm)

Protocol Education are working in partnership with a SEN School based in Gateshead who are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic and growing SEND team. This team will work alongside teachers to support students with a range of SEND including those with EHCP's. The school are especially keen to receive applications from graduates. You may even be considering a career in teaching in the future!

We are looking for a passionate and conscientious SEND Teaching Assistant to work within the school, with the ability to work as part of a team as well as the capacity to use initiative.

The job profile will include supporting the Teacher with the development and education of our pupils in the class. This role is based in mainstream classes and you will be responsible for supporting SEN pupils. You will also be working closely with the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and the class teacher.

The successful candidates will be required to provide support in the following aspects:

  • To work with children who have a range of needs including learning, behavioural and physical needs.
  • To demonstrate resilience in managing the behaviour of children with needs.
  • Remain calm under pressure and be able to adapt to change quickly.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and a genuine commitment to Inclusion.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
