We are working with an outstanding academy based in Islington who are seeking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant to join them ASAP to support their students with learning difficuties and additional needs.

The school are seeking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant to work closely with teaching staff, and other teaching assistants, supporting the delivery of learning activities, and work programmes, including the preparation of materials and resources.  You will support and encourage students to develop their skills and knowledge, and give general guidance within and outside of the classroom.

The role includes taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under a system of supervision, supported by direction from the SENCO, teaching staff and in line with school policies and guidance. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/ groups and monitoring students. You will assess, record and report on the students’ achievement, progress and development.

The role of a Teaching Assistant involves working with students across Years 7 to 13 in a variety of subject areas, either on a 1-1 basis or in small groups. Some students may have Special Educational Needs that you can support them with (training is offered in this remit), whilst others may need extra assistance from someone with a passion for the subject to push them even further. Previous experience in supporting students with ASD is desirable for this role. The students you will be working with are by no means behind in the subject, but need extra encouragement and support to ensure they understand each topic and to enhance their confidence within the subject.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
