Protocol Education are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a warm and inclusive specialist school at the heart of Durham.
About the role
You’ll be working in a supported team that nurture children with:
- Autism and communication needs
- SEMH and behavioural challenges
- Complex learning needs or medical requirements
- Cognition and learning delays

What you’ll be doing as a SEND Teaching Assistant
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
- Working 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils access all learning.
- Following personalised support plans with guidance from the SENCO.
- Creating a safe, structured and reassuring environment.
- Building trust with pupils who rely on consistent, steady adults.
- Being interpersonal and collaborative.
Requirements for a SEN Teaching Assistanr
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
- A patient, nurturing approach.
- Someone who can think on their feet and adapt to individual needs.
- Strong communication and a team-focused mindset.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
