SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Sunderland
Pay: £90–£110 per day
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist education setting supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs.
This role supports pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation, behaviour or engagement with learning and require consistent, understanding adult support to succeed in school.
You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide structured, nurturing support throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities:
• Supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
• Working 1:1 and in small groups
• Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour
• Supporting learning activities and classroom routines
• Assisting with transitions and unstructured times
• Encouraging confidence, independence and resilience
This role is ideal for someone who:
• Has experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH
• Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient
• Understands behaviour as a form of communication
• Is committed to inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
