Job Duties:
- Supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in their learning and development.
- Assisting teachers in creating and implementing individualised education plans for students with additional needs.
- Providing one-to-one support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
- Managing and de-escalating situations involving challenging behaviour.
- Collaborating with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure effective support for students.
Required Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
- Bachelor of Arts Honours degree (BA Hons)
Experience:
Prior experience working with students with additional needs, SEMH, and challenging behaviour
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) regulations and best practises
- Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong behaviour management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional training or qualifications in supporting students with SEND, SEMH, ASD.
- Experience working in a similar role within an educational setting.
Working Conditions:
The role may involve working in a classroom environment, supporting students with diverse needs and behaviours. Flexibility in working hours and the ability to adapt to changing situations are essential. The candidate will need to have two professional references and an enhanced DBS ( we can help obtain this at a cost if needed).
